The SBOC provides legal assistance to entrepreneurs, start-up companies and not-for-profit organizations focusing on economic development and job creation.

Most of our clients are located in the Chicago metropolitan area. Typically, they want to start a new enterprise, have done some research on their own, but have found that there are questions which they cannot answer without professional assistance. Many of our clients are concerned about how much it will cost to retain a lawyer.

They have ideas of all kinds. These have included:

· Setting up a consulting business,

· Establishing an inventory control firm,

· Copyrighting a website,

· Buying an existing business,

· Entering into a franchise agreement,

· Obtaining tax-exempt status for their not-for- profit organization.

Some are devoting 100% of their time to the new business. Others have full-time jobs and are pursuing their dreams on weekends and in the evenings. All services are provided on a strictly confidential basis.
